My name is Eric Tereshinski. I've been making games for 13 years, and the last 6 years I have been using the free Unity3D game engine. Making video games is my passion. It's one of the most challenging yet rewarding hobbies you can pursue. Currently, working on video games is a full time job for me.
No matter what your background is, a complete beginner or a computer science graduate, I can teach you how to make and program your own games in Unity3D. My lessons will be completely customized for you. We'll start with a free 30 minute consultation. I'll get to know what your goals are, what kinds of games you are interested in making, and what parts of game development interest you the most. We will come up with a plan for you. Getting started right away, we will create fun small game projects in Unity and work our way towards a more complex playable game. At any point, you can ask me questions, or get help solving an error or glitch in your own game project. You will master the basics and have multiple small working projects to show for it in no time flat.
At the end of every session, you will be sent a copy of all the code and project files I used that day for your own reference. I also record all tutoring sessions and will send you a copy of that video as well. No additional charge.
No. If you are under 18, I'll need your parent's signature. I have people of all ages, and it doesn't seem to be much different. Making games is just as fun no matter what age you're at.
Just one tutoring session works great! Try it out and see if tutoring is a good fit for you. At the end of the session, I'll send you an easy payment request on Paypal and we can talk about when you want to schedule your next session. You can schedule multiple at a time or as you go, whatever works best for you.
This is up to you. I find that 2 hours per session is the best length of time. It's long enough that we'll have time to go over a lot of topics, but not too long that we'll get burnt out.
This is up to you. I can depend on your schedule or how much time you want in between sessions to practice. Anything from twice a week to once every other week seems to be a good length of time.
Yes. We will use Skype screen share. It's free and has worked great so far. You'll be able to see my computer screen in real time.
Everyone learns at a different pace, but generally, it goes something like this:
Tutoring Session 1, We'll pretty quickly jump into placing 3D objects into the game, and we'll probably have enough time to add a few simple lines of code, just to give you an idea of how code works with unity. By the end of this first session, we will build a little world with cubes and sphere that bounces or moves or shoots or something fun.
Tutoring Session 2, Here we will probably open up a new project an start working on recreating a simple retro game like Asteroids or Breakout. Most simple retro games make a great starting point for learning the basics of how a game is built and structured in Unity. By the end of this tutoring session, we'll have the basics movements down and figure out the code for the main gameplay.
Tutoring Session 3, Spending more time on our retro game, we'll add more things like score, enemies, win state, lose state, explosions, ect.
And from there we'll keep on making more and more complex game projects.
Send an email to [email protected] for the current rate and set up an appointment for a free consultation! Payments are pay-as-you-go or you can pre-pay multiple sessions if that is more convenient for you.
You will receive a response via email in 1-2 business days.
